A 22-year-old woman who underwent buttock augmentation surgery dies “within ten minutes” of receiving anesthesia by an “unqualified” beautician in Russia

Russian police are investigating the sudden death of a 22-year-old woman during buttock augmentation surgery performed by an ‘unqualified’ beautician who was her ‘friend’.
Mika Shabasova died ‘ten minutes after she was given a local anaesthetic’ for the procedure, according to reports.
She was dead before an ambulance arrived at the ‘home surgery’ of beautician Uma M, who is now under house arrest.
The beautician offered the £154 procedure after studying on a “two-week course”, reports say.
She told state investigators in Makhachkala that she had repeatedly anesthetized the victim’s skin with lidocaine, a local anaesthetic.

She had asked Shabasova if she had any allergies, she said.
The esthetician is described as a former waitress who did not have a license for cosmetic surgery but performed “lip, cheek and buttock augmentation.”
‘The cause of death will be established through a forensic medical examination,’ 112 reported.
The Russian Investigative Committee said: ‘A 22-year-old Makhachkala resident, while visiting her friend, who performs cosmetic procedures at home, died at the scene after administration of an anaesthetic.
“Currently, all the circumstances of the incident are being established.”
A friend of the dead woman said he had urged Shabasova not to undergo the buttock procedure, which Uma M had advertised.
“The beautician who was supposed to perform the operation recently received a certificate,” he said.
She completed a two-week course and became a cosmetologist. Before that, she was doing eyelash extensions.

Mika reportedly went to the surgery with Uma out of ‘trust’ because they were friends.

The friend said, ‘Mika went with her, because Uma is her friend, just out of trust.’
Three days before the surgery he had a fever and was not working.
“She lived with three girls in an apartment – they all tried to persuade her not to go to this beautician.”
He said the woman “secretly, when everyone was home, she just left the house, called a taxi and went to this surgery.”

‘These were with different anaesthetics. But within 15 minutes she was gone.
The police questioned his friends, he said.
