A tourist submersible that took five people to view the wreckage of the Titanic for up to $250,000 a ticket has disappeared off the coast of Canada.
The Boston Coast Guard and the Canadian Coast Guard are now searching for the missing ship which is operated by the tour company OceanGate Expeditions.
The remains of the iconic ship lie 12,500 feet (2.5 miles) underwater some 370 miles off Newfoundland, Canada.
OceanGate Expeditions is believed to be the only company offering the tours.
Tickets cost a staggering $250,000 for a ten-day excursion during which groups are paired up in smaller pods to soak in the submersibles for up to ten hours.
The company has not yet commented.

Marine Traffic shows that the Canadian Coast Guard’s Polar Prince, Horizon Arctic and Kopit Hobson 1752 are now heading towards the wreck.
Their dives can last up to 10 hours each, and participants spend a total of 10 days at sea aboard a larger vessel.
The company uses Starlink, Elon Musk’s internet company, for its communications at sea, according to social media posts.
In an interview last year, the company’s CEO, Stockton Rush, told CBC that its subs seat five people.
“Titan is the only five-person submarine capable of going as deep as Titanic, which is half the depth of the ocean.”
There are no switches or things to bump into, we have a button to turn it on.
“Everything else is done with touch screens and computers, so you really become part of the vehicle and everyone gets to know each other pretty well.”
The 2023 expeditions are only the third the company has conducted on the Titan.
