Al Roker leaves hospital after being treated for a blood clot in his leg

Al Roker has a lot to be thankful for, as he was released from the hospital on Thanksgiving…although he unfortunately had to miss his first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 27 years.

The 68-year-old Today Show weather host revealed last week that he was hospitalized, “with a blood clot in my leg that sent some clots to my lungs.”

He took to Instagram on Thursday, mocking his absence from the annual parade as he left the hospital for Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

Absence: He took to Instagram Thursday, poking fun at his absence from the annual parade as he left the hospital for Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

On Thursday morning he shared a video of himself walking through the hospital, wearing a black baseball cap, blue face mask, green and gray polo shirt from his alma mater, SUNY Oswego, blue pants and black shoes.

‘Okay, this is my version of the Thanksgiving parade, getting ready to leave the hospital. It’s time to blow up this taco stand,” Roker said in the short video.

‘Back home in time to catch a glimpse of the #MacysThanksgivingDayParade. I miss being next to @SavannahGuthrie and @HodaKotb,’ she said in the caption.

He also added a photo of himself surrounded by his family, which he captioned, “So #grateful to be home for #thanksgivingdinner with the #family.”

Last Friday, Roker shared an update for his fans, who have been wondering why he hasn’t been on the air lately, revealing his medical issues.

Many of you have been carefully asking where I have been. Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg that sent some clots to my lungs,” Roker confirmed.

“After some medical blows, I am very fortunate to receive excellent medical care and on my way to recovery,” he added.

Medical: Last Friday, Roker shared an update for his fans, who wondered why he hasn’t been on the air lately, revealing his medical issues.

‘Thank you for all the well wishes and prayers and I look forward to seeing you soon. Have a great weekend everyone,” Roker concluded.

Roker has worked for NBC in some capacity since 1978 when he joined WKYC in Cleveland.

Roker filled in as regular weather presenter when Willard Scott announced his retirement in 1996.
