Angela Bassett’s 16-year-old son, Slater Vance, has apologized to Michael B. Jordan after receiving backlash for participating in a viral TikTok trend of faking a celebrity’s death.

In a since-deleted clip, Slater filmed the reaction of his parents, Angela, 64, and Courtney B. Vance, 62, to the fake news that Wakanda Forever co-star Michael B. Jordan has died.

After deleting the video, Vance shared an apology, saying, “I would like to sincerely apologize for participating in such a damaging trend.”

He went on to say, “I apologize to the entire family of Michael B. Jordan, his extended family and Michael directly as he is an idol of mine and participating in a trend like this is completely disrespectful.”

“I don’t want any bad ramifications of my actions on your family or my parents as they don’t deserve any reaction.”

“I admit this was a mistake and I hope this can be a teaching lesson for anyone else who uses social media as a tool and a source of entertainment to really understand that your actions can have consequences that extend beyond you.” added.

“Harmful Trend”: After deleting the original video, Vance shared an apology, saying, “I would like to sincerely apologize for participating in such a harmful trend.”

He ended the video by saying, “I apologize for any harm my actions may have caused to Mr. Jordan or my parents or anyone else who may have been involved in this, and I’m truly, truly, sincerely sorry.”

The now-deleted original 20-second clip showed him asking: ‘Did you hear this: Michael B. Jordan dead at 35?’

The Waiting to Exhale star was left speechless as she placed her hand on her chest and her jaw dropped.

Angela and Courtney also share a daughter named Bronwyn Vance, 16, their son’s fraternal twin.

The children were welcomed via surrogate in 2006, nine years after the couple married.
