At least three school pupils have been injured in a knife attack in Sweden after two rival gangs fought at a sporting event, according to local media reports.

The students were rushed to hospital after the stabbing at a sports facility in the town of Eskilstuna, TV4 reports.

The television channel initially reported that the attack took place at a school, but the principal later said that the students were in a different location at the time of the incident.

“We know very little at this point,” the director said. ‘It is the students of the school who are in another place.’

The students had reportedly been on a school trip to the local sports venues when a fight broke out between two gangs.
