Despite warnings from Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney to celebrate “with joy, safety and respect,” several Eagles fans were seen collapsing through a glass canopy of a bus shelter in the hours after Sunday’s NFC Championship victory. Later, policemen in riot gear were seen dispersing fans in the streets.

PhiladelphiaCrimeUpdate.com reports there are ‘multiple injuries’ stemming from the bus stop incident, which took place at a SEPTA bus stop on South Broad Street near City Hall.

The footage shows nearly a dozen Eagles fans standing on top of the glass structure, which shatters, throwing everyone out onto the busy street below. The video does not show the aftermath of the incident.

Despite warnings from Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney to celebrate “with joy, safety and respect,” several Eagles fans were seen collapsing through a glass canopy of a bus shelter in the hours after Sunday’s NFC Championship win. PhillyCrimeUpdate.com reports there are “multiple injuries” stemming from the incident, which took place at a SEPTA bus stop on South Broad Street near City Hall.

The scene was similar to the one that had taken place in Philadelphia five years earlier, when the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl for their first Lombardi Trophy. Subsequently, several Eagles fans began celebrating under a fabric awning at the Ritz Carlton until the unit collapsed under the weight of the group.

As happened five years earlier, the police greased the light poles to discourage fans from climbing above the assembled crowd. But once again, Eagles supporters managed to hoist themselves onto street signs and crosswalk signals.

The crowd was largely peaceful, according to reports, but some enthusiastic fans continued to put themselves and others at risk by trying to climb into parked cars and various city structures.

“As a lifelong Philadelphian and mayor of this great city, I am delighted to see fans of all ages and from all neighborhoods celebrating together with pride and excitement,” Kenney said in a statement. “This is a wonderful night and I ask Philadelphians to celebrate with joy, safety and respect.”

Despite the request, fans continued to take to Market and Broad streets, climbing oiled light poles and parked cars.

Finally, police in riot gear were brought in to disperse the crowd. There were also reports that officers were using a long-range acoustic device (LRAD) that emits a loud noise in an effort to quell the celebration.

‘The police are now using [LRAD] Trying to disperse the crowds, this is taking place at Philadelphia City Hall,’ the Raws Alert Twitter account reported. Things start to get intense.
