A foster mother who rescued orphans from war-torn Ukraine has gone on trial for torture, sexual abuse and “renting” the children to pedophiles.
A court in the Polish city of Poznan heard that Ukrainian Svetlana Plyushko regularly assaulted children, forcing them to put dirty nappies in their mouths and eat vomit.
He also heard that the 53-year-old man allegedly sexually abused the 10 boys between the ages of 4 and 16 and forced them to use drugs before inviting in the local pedophiles who paid to abuse them.
Citing an example, prosecutor Aneta Chamczyńska-Penkala told the court: “Together and in agreement with unidentified men, making him a permanent source of income, he gave them a minor to force her to have sex.”
Local journalist Piotr Żytnicki from the respected newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza reported: “They grabbed her hair and raped her, while [Svetlana] he stood at the door with the phone in his hand and counted the time.

‘She counted if 20 minutes had passed. These men probably paid for those 20 minutes. The children said: “Mom did not save us.”
A child psychiatrist added that when she interviewed the children they were “scared”. They sat with their hands on their knees, heads bowed, no eye contact.
They were pale and very emaciated.
The five-year-old boy weighed 11 kg. The state of the teeth was bad. I have never seen such decay.
“This was not neglect that arose in a few weeks.”

The house of horrors was revealed after the doctor was called in to treat one of the children who was suffering from stomach problems.
The doctor said: ‘That night she started talking about the violence Svetlana used.
‘I’ve never seen a girl like this, her eyes fixed on one point, tears dripping down her face, and she talked and talked.
‘She was spilling information. She finished one topic and started another.
‘The next day, more children started talking.’
Plyushko, who faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted, said that before the Russian invasion she had been running a foster home in Ukraine for 15 years.
He added that there had never been any complaints before.
Denying all the charges, he told the court: “Maybe I hurt them because I didn’t surround them with love and care.”
