Gadkari further said that in 1991, when Dr. Singh was the Finance Minister, the economic reforms carried out by him gave a new direction to India. This led to the beginning of a liberal economy. Because of this the country is indebted to them. Gadkari also shared an anecdote from the 1990s. He told that he was the minister of Maharashtra at that time. He was successful in raising funds to build a road there. He also said that China is a good example of how liberal economic policy can help in the development of any country. If economic growth is to be accelerated, the country will need more capital expenditure investment. According to the Union Minister, at present, NHAI is also raising funds for the construction of highways from the common man.

Gadkari told that his ministry is constructing 26 green expressways and the special thing is that he has no shortage of money. NHAI’s toll revenue will be Rs 1.40 lakh crore by the end of 2024, from Rs 40,000 crore per annum now.
