A Greek priest has been arrested on the island of Rhodes for allegedly tricking a tourist into dropping his pants so he could ‘anoint’ his genitals with holy oil, according to reports.

The 49-year-old Orthodox priest is accused of insulting the sexual dignity of a 30-year-old Estonian who was vacationing on the popular tourist island.

The tourist is said to have visited the monastery, in the southern part of the island, the day before with his girlfriend.

He said that he bought a cross from the church, but then forgot to take it with him. The priest then sent him a text message to tell him that he had found it, reports the Dimokratiki newspaper.

When the man returned early the next day to retrieve it, the priest is said to have taken him to a small reception room and told him it was “to give him a special gift”.

The cleric is said to have asked the man to drop his pants and underwear so he could ‘anoint’ him. It is at this point that he supposedly massaged the oil into the man’s private parts.

The man was left confused and embarrassed, apparently unsure if this was some kind of legitimate ritual.

Reflecting on the ordeal later that day, she decided to report it to the police.

The cleric reportedly tried to justify his actions by claiming that he had been trying to help the tourist with a rash.

The case is now with the island’s criminal prosecutor.
