Meghan Markle confirmed a series was in the works after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted on several occasions with film crews in tow. Speaking about the documentaries in a recent interview with Variety magazine, Meghan said: “It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story.” However, royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti claims there may be another reason behind the Netflix deal.
As the hit show The Crown draws closer today, Sacerdoti claimed that Meghan and Harry could have “sort of a fixed deal” with the streaming service.
The Crown’s upcoming series has been criticized for its dramatization of real-life events, but Meghan and Harry still chose to work with the service to produce their series.
Sacerdoti told Express.co.uk: “I wonder if one of the reasons Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t taken a strong stand against Netflix by refusing to make their series is that they haven’t changed that kind of approach. towards the Crown.
“I wonder if it could be some kind of arranged agreement, spoken or unspoken, that will see them alone in the crown if they give their side of their story.”
The Crown creator Peter Morgan has confirmed that the series will end with season six, taking the royal family back to the early 2000s, though exactly where is still unclear.
Sacerdoti added that Meghan and Harry will therefore be able to “complete their additional piece of the puzzle” with their own series of events.
He said: “I definitely think it would be undesirable for Meghan and Harry to have recent events depicted in The Crown, I know the producers said they’re not interested in getting to this day, but maybe that’s why ‘ are so into this Netflix series that you can fill in your additional piece of the puzzle by telling your story.”

Actors Teddy Hawley and Will Powell are set to play a young Prince Harry in the show’s fifth season, but their role has yet to be cast for season six.
Elizabeth Debicki, who plays Princess Diana, has emphasized the importance of not taking the show for granted.
The actress insisted that people should “move on” after including a disclaimer for the latest series.
Speaking about the disclaimer, Ms Debicki added: “Now that the disclaimer is up there, maybe we can stop talking about it and move on.
“If it’s useful to certain people, so be it, and now the conversation can go back to the creative effort of what the show is.”
