Harry Kane tells Spurs to call off contract talks; Club director does not confirm offer for striker

According to a report, Harry Kane does not want to start contract negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur until after the World Cup.

The England captain has less than two years left on his current contract.

He has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent months.

Despite his situation, Harry Kane remains calm and doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to write new terms.

According to that evening standardThe 29-year-old is currently focused on completing the first half of the season at Tottenham before becoming captain of the Three Lions in Qatar.

That means contract negotiations are on hold pending his return to north London after this winter’s tournament.

The report adds that Spurs also hope to renew the contracts of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Eric Dier.

Discussions with the latter should only take place after the World Cup. His contract also expires in 2024, while Hojbjerg’s runs until 2025.

Kane has always said he would be open to talks about a new deal at his boyhood club, but Bayern and Manchester United are believed to have wavering interest.

The striker was pushing to leave Spurs last summer when Manchester City made a big offer to sign him, but Daniel Levy did not accept the offer.

It could be said that Kane was not himself in the first half of 2021/22, but he has returned to his best under Antonio Conte.

The Spurs are eager to agree to new terms before the end of the season and are wary of entering the campaign 23-24 with their talisman in the final year of their contract.

Kane currently earns around £200,000 a week at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sporting director Fabio Paratici previously said he was “very optimistic” Kane would extend his contract.

Meanwhile, Bari president Luigi de Laurentiis and sporting director Ciro Polito have discussed the future of striker Walid Cheddira. who has been linked with a move to Spurs.

Cheddira has scored 13 goals in as many games and is apparently worth around £13m. lucky for some.

He currently plays for Bari in Serie B and for the Moroccan national team.

Club director Polito has confirmed that they have yet to receive an offer despite reported interest from Spurs.

“There was no official offer for Cheddira,” Polito said. Cusano Italy TV (quotes via HITC).

“Obviously he is a player (with fans). But for now we are holding on to it.”

Bari President De Laurentiis has also confirmed his interest in Cheddira.

“Many Serie A clubs are (interested),” he said. Mediaset.

“We are excited about his tremendous explosion (in form).”

“Interested in Serie A? It is still early. The boy is very happy in Bari”, adds agent Bruno di Napoli (Radio Punto Nuovo). “He has a contract here until 2025.”
