Yesim Demir was on vacation with his boyfriend Nizamettin Gursu at Polente Cape in Canakkale, a city in northwestern Turkey in the Marmara region, when the tragic accident occurred.
He had just proposed to her and they went up to the cliff to celebrate with a picnic while they watched the sunset.
Gursu reportedly left to get the picnic supplies from the car, but said he suddenly heard a scream.
He rushed back, only to find that his new fiancée had fallen off the cliff.

Authorities immediately closed off the area and opened an investigation, with access to the cliff only allowed again “in a controlled manner” from July 15. This means that no pedestrians or vehicles are allowed in the area within 15-20 minutes of sunset, according to reports.

Gursu previously said that he wanted to propose to Demir at sunset and therefore chose the cliffs for the romantic moment.

One of Demir’s mourning friends told local media: “This is a place where everyone comes and watches the sunset.”
‘However, the roads are very bad and there is no caution on the edge of the cliff. A fence should be drawn here, precautions should be taken.
