Kody Brown has been reduced to three Sister Wives.
We’ve known this since Christine Brown announced just under a year ago that she was leaving her spiritual husband after more than two decades as a couple.
Here’s the thing, though:
To hear Kody say it, the above statement isn’t even accurate. She really only has two sister wives.
The final installment of season 17 focused at least a bit on Meri Brown’s reaction to Christine leaving the family.
This reality star hasn’t slept with her husband in over 10 years, and despite her desire for me, she doesn’t have any romantic connection with Kody these days.
“I’m not jealous of Christine because she’s leaving and I can’t. Because I can. I can do whatever she wants,” Meri said on air, referring to her and Kody’s issues.
“My strength is to stay and see if Kody would be willing to work on our relationship. So he left that door open, but I don’t languish.”
Meri went on to say that she believes Christine has betrayed her loved ones by not doing the same.
Meri noted that, like Christine, she and Kody “are not legally married.”
However, basically in the next breath, she said that despite her ups and downs, she feels “we’re still married.”
However, her mostly horrible husband did not see things the same way.
“I don’t think we can ever be functional,” Kody came right out and told the camera, even stating that he doesn’t “consider” them married, adding:
“I don’t think I’ll ever be emotionally safe with her.”
The father of 18 said something similar towards the end of last season when he accused Meri of cheating on him in 2015 when he tried to date someone else.
At one point in the episode, Meri was forced to wonder if this was an accurate statement.
“I want to work on the relationship, but Kody has basically said no. Does that mean we are no longer married? she asked her during the Sunday, November 6 episode of the TLC series while reflecting on Christine’s decision to decide her family.
“That’s not how I look at it.”
However, perhaps it should be.
Still, Meri has insisted that God wants her to be with Kody.
Elsewhere, Meri focused on the issues plaguing Christine and Kody…and expanded on them beyond just those two polygamous unit members.
“We no longer function as a family,” said the owner of the bed and breakfast, explaining in more detail:
“We haven’t done it for a long, long time. It’s not just Kody and Christine’s relationship that has been a problem. There are many fractures.”
