What Loren and Alexei: after 90 days Viewers have seen, Loren Brovarnik’s parents are not taking things well.
It is more than understandable that grandparents worry that their children and grandchildren will spend years in another country.
What is neither normal nor acceptable is the degree of protest from Loren’s mother. This time, she crosses a line.
Loren’s mother threatens to hit her, almost admitting that if the producers weren’t watching, she might have. Check out the sneak peek clip below!
Marlene and Bryan have been against the idea of Loren and Alexei moving to Israel from the beginning.
The Brovarniks have discussed living there for a few years while the children are young and then returning to the US.
For one thing, they’re not talking about staying long enough for Shai to be pressured into the IDF or sent to prison for refusing. On the other hand, it is a long time, for a small child or for a grandparent.
But Marlene and Bryan’s objections have grown increasingly hostile over time.
In next week’s episode, Marlene explodes.
As you can see in the video below, Marlene threatens her pregnant daughter with physical violence during a heated altercation.
The context of this dispute is that Loren is having a chat alone with her parents. This apparently comes after a nasty argument with Alexei’s family.
Bryan looks awkward and silent during this exchange. Marlene is speaking loud enough for both of them.
Both women accuse the other of being disrespectful. Honestly, they both may be right, but only one of them crosses the line.
Loren accuses her mother of specifically being with Alexei and his relatives.
She is also concerned that her mother is clearly underestimating her as a person.
According to her, Marlene has been telling people that Loren is absolutely incapable of moving to Israel with her young children.
Marlene hotly questions that characterization of her words.
It seems that Loren also feels that Marlene insulted Alexei’s parents and his homeland when she discussed things with them.
After a while, Marlene’s anger is clearly boiling, and she demands Loren to just “shut the fuck up.”
He gets up in Loren’s face and threatens to hit her.
“If I didn’t have a room full of people, I’d probably slap you across the face because you’re disrespectful, for his mother,” Marlene hisses.
Then he spits out: “You know what? You don’t talk to anyone else like that.
Marlene doesn’t even stop there, but doubles down on why she thinks Loren would have problems after moving out.
She says that Loren is complaining that Alexei will leave her with the children while he goes fishing alone or whatever.
None of them adequately address the threat of violence. Empty words or not, it was unacceptable.
“It’s okay, mom, it’s okay, you’re fucking perfect,” Loren replies, still taking her mother’s concerns personally. At this point, it’s more understandable.
Then he turns to his father and comments: “Speaking of a hypocrite.”
And he jokes: “Enjoy your trip. That was en-f-king-sane.”
