Ryan Reynolds Starts Training For Deadpool 3’s MCU Debut

Ryan Reynolds seemingly has begun training for Deadpool 3 ahead of making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. It has been over a decade since Reynolds made his first appearance as Wade Wilson. While his role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a trainwreck, it gave the actor a passion to bring the Merc with a Mouth to life properly. He finally did so in 2016 with the release of Deadpool, which became a massive box office and pop culture hit. Reynolds went on to return as Deadpool in Deadpool 2. His portrayal became so popular that even Marvel Studios could not ignore him when Disney acquired 20th Century.Development on Deadpool 3 has been underway for a few years now, but it was only in recent months that the movie made real progress. Original writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese were brought back to write a new version of the script, while Free Guy and The Adam Project director Shawn Levy joined as well. Despite the positive movement, Deadpool 3 was not part of Marvel Studios’ San Diego Comic-Con 2022 announcements and was left out of the Multiverse Saga slate, leaving room for more speculation about when Ryan Reynolds will make his MCU debut. It now appears that Reynolds has started training for Deadpool 3. His longtime trainer Don Saladino, who worked with Reynolds in preparation for the prior two Deadpool movies, posted on social media that they are back training together. His Instagram caption teases it is indeed for Deadpool 3, or at least a Deadpool MCU appearance, as it reads, “🔴 ⚔️ and so it begins…” The red circle and crossed swords emojis are clear teases for Deadpool. The tease of Ryan Reynolds getting back in superhero movie shape for a Deadpool role is quite intriguing. It was previously announced that Deadpool 3 would not begin filming in 2022.Reynolds starting training at this point either means that Deadpool 3 is happening much sooner than previously expected or that the actor is preparing to film a Deadpool cameo for another MCU project. Of course, Reynolds might also want to start training months in advance due to his already busy schedule. While Deadpool 3 was not officially part of Marvel Studios’ Multiverse Saga announcements, there is still a good chance that the movie comes out in the next few years. Disney’s release calendar has an untitled Marvel movie dated for February 2024, so Deadpool 3 could be the missing Phase 5 movie.
