DVD Megastore and Buttercup Bookshop in Shrewsbury will become a stand-alone mid-tier store in The Darwin Shopping Center from December 3.

The two stores are currently housed in two separate units in The Collective independent dealer gallery on the lower level of Darwin.

Estaban Bridges, owner of DVD Megastore and Buttercup Bookshop, says having a physical store will allow him to engage with customers and develop lasting relationships with them.

“I am delighted with the move of my two stores,” he said. “To be positioned where I am, alongside iconic national brands like M&S and Primark, is truly a humbling and ambitious thing that I have had since I started in this industry.

“The management team has always been so supportive – when we had to move the Pride Hill store facility, they were very excited about creating The Collective, which is a wonderful incubation space for businesses.

“There is no question that being on The Collective has allowed our growth to continue, resulting in us now having our own independent store downtown.”

Estaban plans to launch the Aspirations initiative after launch, which will use the funds raised from donated items to cover the cost of business management diplomas to support young people who want to start their own small businesses.

Kevin Lockwood, Darwin Center Manager, said: “It’s amazing what Estaban has achieved in such a short time. He is an exceptional negotiator and has a clear vision of what he wants to achieve. It also has an incredibly loyal customer base, and I know they will be delighted when they see their new facility.”

“We are particularly proud of the mix of tenants we have at The Darwin and will continue to support our national and independent retailers with their ambitions as much as we can.

“We wish Estaban the best in his new location and we are confident that he will continue to grow and develop his business with this expansion.”

The Collective has become a destination in Shrewsbury for people looking for something unique, local and special.

The space, which was previously home to QVC, can house up to 11 independent businesses.
