The Rock Missed Out On Huge Hollywood Role Because He Lacked Star Power

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson lost out on the iconic role of Jack Reacher, because he lacked star power. Jack Reacher, the protagonist of a series of books by British author Lee Childs, is a former U.S. Army MP turned spy and vigilante. According to a report from ScreenRant, The Rock sought an audition for a film role as Reacher (which would be released in 2012) but was turned down for his lack of ‘star power’ at the time. Instead of the Brahma Bull, the role went to Tom Cruise, despite criticism that the five-foot-six actor was too short for to play Reacher. Despite being a proven hit in wrestling, a series of box-office bombs had left studios hesitant to work with Johnson.
The Rock would bounce back with being cast in Fast Five, which would prove to be a turning point in his movie career.
