Tom Brady has snatched victory from the jaws of defeat many times throughout his NFL career.
(This could be a touchy subject for all Atlanta Falcons fans.)
But it seems that when it came to his marriage to Gisele Bundchen, Brady couldn’t execute a successful two-minute drill.
Yes, as you have no doubt heard by now, Tom and Gisele have finalized their divorce.
It was widely known that Brady and Bundchen were experiencing problems in their relationship, but the news that the couple had already term their marriage was a shock.
The cause of the split is still not entirely clear.
Insiders claimed that Gisele was upset by Tom’s decision to return to football after announcing his retirement in February.
Gisele insists that this was not the problem, but in any case, all accounts seem to agree that she was the one who initiated the separation.
“This was not Tom’s idea,” says a source close to the situation. People magazine. “This was never Tom’s idea.”
The source adds that Tom “wanted to do whatever it took to work things out” because he “didn’t want a divorce and didn’t want the marriage to end.”
Brady was reportedly “willing to go to therapy, marriage counseling, whatever it takes to make things work,” but these efforts came after years of ignoring Gisele’s requests.
“She gave him a lot of opportunities to fix things and he didn’t,” the source continued, adding that while Brady was “busy pursuing his passion,” Gisele took on most of the parenting responsibilities.
Tom “didn’t want the kids to have divorced parents; I wanted to figure this out,” says the source.
“Gisele told Tom that she was either quitting football to spend time with the family or she was leaving for good,” says another source. We weekly.
“She doesn’t want him to keep getting injured and not be able to enjoy life in the future. She is doing it for her family.”
Earlier this week, Brady broke his silence on the divorce while hosting his SiriusXM radio show.
The Tampa Bay Bucs quarterback did not give a reason for the split, but insisted the divorce was amicable.
Brady said that right now he is “focused on two things, taking care of my family and certainly my children, and secondly, doing the best job that I can to win football games.”
Some say it’s a priority shift for the NFL legend who spent most of his life putting football above all else.
Whatever the case, it seems Tom learned the hard way that the people in his life have a breaking point.
