Tom Hardy Could Make A Surprise Appearance In Matrix Resurrections
Tom Hardy might make a surprise appearance in The Matrix Resurrections. The fourth movie of the Matrix trilogy will be released over 20 years after the brilliant sci-fi series was considered to have concluded. Warner Bros. stated in 2019 that original actors Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will return to the Matrix for a new tale written and directed by Lana Wachowski. Since that announcement, there has been a lot of buzz about how The Matrix Resurrections would continue the storylines of Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus. While Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss have returned to lead the cast of Matrix 4, the plot has meant that not all of the original actors have returned, despite some of their characters live on in a rebooted Matrix.Morpheus is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Agent Smith is played by Jonathan Groff, and Sati is played by Priyanka Chopra. The Matrix Resurrections, on the other hand, is bringing back a few other series stalwarts, including Jada Pinkett Smith’s Niobe and Lambert Wilson’s Merovingian. The film will also include new characters, such as Jessica Henwick’s Bugs. The Matrix Resurrections may potentially include a surprise appearance by Tom Hardy. The Venom star was in San Francisco shooting Venom: Let There Be Carnage at the same time that Matrix 4 was. Jessica Henwick told Den of Geek that this enabled her to meet Hardy and shoot something with him. Henwick added that she and Hardy ran through the backdrop of a few different shots, but she is unsure if the sequences – and therefore Hardy’s cameo – will make the cut.“We were shooting in San Francisco at the same time as Venom 2, and I met Tom Hardy, so To Hardy and I are jogging in the background of one of the sequences, and I’m very anxious to see whether that made the cut.”Based on how Henwick depicts Tom Hardy’s likely appearance in The Matrix Resurrections, he won’t have a large presence even if the sequences are included. There’s also a risk that viewers won’t see Hardy in the background until they watch Matrix 4 on HBO Max frame by frame. Even if Hardy’s cameo is removed, this isn’t the first time the actor has taken on minor parts in major films for the sake of having fun. Tom Hardy recorded a stormtrooper cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it was deleted from the final edit. The potential of Tom Hardy appearing in The Matrix Resurrections is just more reason to be thrilled about the film. It will also be interesting to see whether the sequel secured any additional high-profile covert appearances. The revival of the Matrix franchise is a massive thing, and with no promises that the series would continue beyond The Matrix Resurrections, stars might have been lined up to make cameos and join this realm. Fortunately, the film will be released soon, allowing Tom Hardy’s participation to be validated or discredited.
