The countries with the world’s biggest penises have been revealed, but that’s bad news if you’re from the US or UK.
On average, men living in Ecuador and Cameroon have the largest members, with penises measuring nearly seven inches (17 cm) from root to tip of the head when erect.
The US and UK didn’t even crack the top 50, with the US languishing in 60th place with men having an average height of 5.4 inches (13.5 cm), almost a third shorter. Great Britain was in 68th place, with a penis size of 5.2 inches (13.1 cm).
The researchers behind the list said they struggled to find a connection between penis length and height, but found that countries with higher rates of obesity tended to have smaller members, which could explain the distribution of fat tissue.
The chart above shows the top 20 countries by penis length, measured from the base of the shaft, or root, to the tip of the head when erect. Researchers in Germany collected data from almost 90 countries
To find out which countries have the biggest penises, researchers in Germany looked at more than 40 recent studies involving thousands of men.
The team extracted data on average penis size from nearly 90 countries, and the measurements were independently verified.
Whenever possible, the team avoided using studies in which men had self-reported their penis size.
In cases where people had a fat pad over their penis, it was slightly compressed to help with measurements.
All of these were averaged for each country and then converted to inches to allow comparison between different nations.
Previously, fitness instructors have said that men can add inches to their penis simply by losing weight.
Of the top 20 countries, half were in Africa, while three were in South America, North America, and Europe.
Only one of the top nations for penis length was Asia.
The European countries with the largest overall penis sizes were the Netherlands, 9th at 6.2 inches, France, 11th at 6.2 inches, and Italy, 19th at 6 inches.
In North American countries, Haiti men ranked fifth at 6.3 inches, Cuba eighth at 6.2 inches, and Canada 13th at 6.2 inches.
At the other end of the scale was Cambodia, with an average penis size of 3.95 inches.
It was followed by Myanmar (4.21 inches), the Philippines (4.27 inches) and Sri Lanka (4.29 inches).
A study published by the British Urology Journal in 2015 involving 15,000 men from three continents found that the average penis size worldwide was 5.16 inches.
The researchers also collected the average male height by country and found little connection between height and penis size.
They did not look at penile shaft circumference by country.
Doctors say that the length of a man’s penis is mainly determined by genetic factors rather than lifestyle.
The penis develops in the womb and during puberty, where hormones such as testosterone drive its growth.
But some studies have suggested a relationship between its length and height, including a paper involving nearly 5,000 Italian men, which found that “height is proportional to the length of the flaccid and erect penis.”
Overweight or obese men may appear to have smaller penises due to excess fat in the pubic area.

It was unclear why men in Ecuador were found to have the largest penises in the world, but the country struggles with a macho culture, where a Latino man exhibits an authoritarian attitude toward anyone he perceives as inferior.
Men in the country are not famous for being tall, as the nation does not rank in the top 50 for male height. About one in five adult men in the country is obese, estimates suggest, compared with two in five in the US.
In terms of preference, some studies have found that women prefer men with larger penises for one-time sexual encounters.
But for a long-term sexual partner, researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, said that women generally prefer men with smaller penises.
