Kody Brown already agrees with his spiritual spouse.
And now it looks like it would be great to add to that account.
In a sneak peek of the remaining episodes of Sister Wives season 17 (published online by People magazine), Kody is dealing with the fallout from Christine’s decision to walk away from their marriage.
But he is also stressed by the apparent annoyance that it is simply his first polygamous partner, Meri Brown.
At one point in the shocking footage, Kody admits that “I don’t really consider myself married anymore” to Meri…which isn’t really the first time he’s made such a statement.
I mean, the stars haven’t slept together in 10 years.
And Kody has no intention of rekindling this flame either.
“I’m never going to have a marital relationship with her because I’m not going to go through that emotional torture anymore,” she said in season 16, referring to Meri’s 2015 catfishing scandal when she tried to find a new man.
“I’m not trying to make Meri sound bad, it’s just a bad combination,” Kody added several months ago.
On a recent episode of Sister Wives, Kody reiterated this stance.
But he takes things one step further in the aforementioned trailer.
“If she wanted to go ahead and marry someone else,” Kody actually says, “she wouldn’t argue with me.”
Wow, huh?!?
Elsewhere in this preview, Christine expresses concern about how her move with the rest of the Browns will play out.
“I just hope they don’t hate me,” he tells the camera.
For her part, in her own confessional, Meri reacts badly to Christine’s monumental decision, perhaps because she herself has not been able to make the same decision.
“Congratulations, you are leaving the family,” Meri sarcastically says in a separate confessional, adding:
“Like, I don’t know what I’m supposed to say to this.”
Kody, however, seems to be taking it worse. With much.
In one scene, we see him yelling at Christine for “ruining the [family’s] road [of life] instead of being held accountable and yelling in his direction:
“You’re like, ‘I’m divorced. Leave. I’m done with you.'”
Janelle Brown then has to comfort her friend, Christine, after Kody leaves.
From there, the family gathers for Christine’s last night in town.
The tension is very evident when this mother of six and her children stand with Janelle Brown and its kids…while Robyn Brown and her kids stand on the opposite side with Kody.
“I never want to see Christine again,” says Kody.
Fearful of the impact this will have on the rest of Kody’s relationships, Robyn adds:
“He still has marriages with us, and he still has to fix them or he will ruin them all.”
Kody’s marriage to Janelle also appears to be going through a rough patch… with the Brown patriarch noting that “they’ve been acting like we’re not a married couple for most of our marriage.”
Janelle finally reaches a breaking point when she says:
“If he can’t handle my independence, I don’t know if this will work for me.”
