
Police have registered a defamation case against a Youth Congress official from the city of Thane in Maharashtra for allegedly posting “derogatory” content against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker Prasad Lad on social media, it said. an official on Saturday.
The case was registered at the Naupada Police Station in Thane based on a complaint filed by a BJP activist, he said.

Whistleblower Ashish Salaskar is a contractor and local BJP official in South Mumbai. He is part of the public relations office of MLC Prasad Lad.
In the complaint, he alleged that the defendant had posted some derogatory comments against Lad on Facebook. Following this Dec. 4 post, there were several slanderous comments against Lad and his mother, he said.
The case was registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 500 (libel) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
